Ycode sets its focus on Content Management experience

At Ycode, our mission has always been to empower people to build high-quality, dynamic websites visually. Over the past few years, we’ve introduced a wide array of features that have enabled users to create increasingly advanced and complex web projects. We’re continuously inspired by the incredible things people build with Ycode, and it fuels our excitement for the future.

However, as we move forward, it’s time to refine our focus. After analyzing thousands of projects built on Ycode, we’ve identified a clear strength: Ycode excels in creating content-rich websites—think corporate sites, blogs, directories, and landing pages. Ycode is a flexible and user-friendly CMS that offers an exceptional experience for both designers crafting the project and those managing content updates.

We believe that updating a website should be a seamless and intuitive process for everyone involved. That’s why we’re doubling down on enhancing the content management experience in Ycode.

Saying Goodbye to Airtable Integration and User Authentication

To maintain this focus, we’ve reviewed the scope of Ycode’s features and identified a few that no longer align with our vision. As a result, we’ve decided to phase out Airtable integration and User Authentication.

  • Airtable Integration: We introduced Airtable as an alternative to Ycode’s native CMS a year ago due to popular demand. While it garnered initial interest, only a handful of projects have gone live using Airtable. Additionally, we found it challenging to deliver the same high-quality content management experience with Airtable as we do with Ycode’s CMS.

  • User Authentication: We initially envisioned User Authentication as a feature that would enable the creation of more complex projects, pushing the boundaries of no-code development. However, in practice, each project has unique requirements that are difficult to address with a one-size-fits-all solution. Although interest in this feature remains, only a few projects have successfully launched with it.

We will continue to support both Airtable Integration and User Authentication for existing projects using these features, but they will not be available for new projects.

Exciting New Features for Content Management

Recently, we’ve introduced several new features that make content management even more flexible and accessible to everyone:

  • Nested and CMS-Driven Components: You can now nest components within others and connect CMS data directly to component variables. This allows you to maintain a consistent design across all pages while efficiently reusing components.

  • OR Conditions in Conditional Visibility: We’ve improved our Conditional Visibility feature by adding OR conditions, which can be used alongside AND conditions. This enhancement gives you greater flexibility and more customization options for your projects.

  • Image Resizing on Canvas: Easily resize images and videos by dragging directly on the canvas. Hold ⇧Shift while dragging to maintain proportions, ensuring a perfect fit every time.

This fall, we’re rolling out a series of new features designed to enhance content management and streamline the website updating process. We’re kicking things off with the Overview Dashboard & Widgets.

Ycode Dashboard with Stats

When you log in to your Ycode project, you’ll now start in the Overview section, where you can access key stats about your website. With Widgets, you can create a customized Dashboard that includes direct links to your most important CMS collections and displays a list of recent changes. This new layout will help your clients or team members navigate more efficiently and easily update website content.
